Red Velvet Cake: A Valentines Celebration 2023

Valentine’s Day might just be one of my favorite petite celebrations. From the sweet Victorian tradition of sending valentines, to pink cakes and heart shaped chocolate boxes, I am all for a Valentine’s Day fête with delicious treats and extra frills.

After becoming mildly obsessed with the recent cake trend involving intricate retro piping techniques, I knew that I wanted to make my first attempt at decorating a cake with as many fancy swoops and hearts as possible (without going too crazy). So obviously, I coated my forever favorite red velvet cake in vibrant raspberry Swiss meringue buttercream with perky maraschino cherries dancing atop poofs of decadent frosting. My pièce de résistance was paired with a simple salty/sweet spread and was an absolute vision of my Valentine’s day dreams. Not too much fuss, but just enough to feel fancy and festive with a few of my favorite ladies.

From sweethearts to best friends, Valentine’s day is the perfect time to spread some love with thoughtful sweets and treats in endless hues of red and pink! Xx
